About Us

Many organizations have worked with disadvantaged groups to enable them to articulate, defend and realize their rights and freedoms potential. Such rights range from civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights. One such marginalized group of girl child, who face discrimination based on their sexuality and violence. It is against this background that CAHED was formed in Southern regions of Kenya in 2008 to advocate for the rights and inclusivity of girl child, women and young persons in the development mainstream. The advocacy has its foundation on human rights pillars of equality and nondiscrimination, the concept of universality of rights, interdependence and indivisibility. The equality underpinning this is derived from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR, 1948) which states in article 1 that “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”. Kenya has ratified this law as stated in the provision of article 2(6) of the 2010 Constitution of Kenya.
